A June Daybook Post

Outside My Window – The sun is shining bright and it is very hot and humid here in Georgia. Days like this, I don’t even like to go out to get the mail. Days like this, I often wondered why in the world we moved back here.

In the Learning Room – I have declared an official break other than math. Yes, we are still puddling along in math this year. I don’t plan to start back until mid August after the family relocation. I am, however, planning our school year for next year and making book list and buying what I can, when I can. Still undecided about math for K-Doodle. But that is another post.

Operation Relocation – We have found the house, signed the contract and had the home inspection. All is good for now. The home appraisal has been ordered. We are now in a holding pattern as far as the actual closing.  Around the house, we are clearing out and decluttering. We have been pulling things out for a garage sale this weekend. We might be sorry, but we are planning one for Saturday morning bright and early. The fact that the girls get to keep what they make off their own goodies has proved to be good incentive to let go of a few things.

In the Kitchen – Keeping it simple. We are also trying to use up what we have so that we don’t have to move so many frozen items. Our stockpile is growing however. C-Sunshine and I have been doing some coupon shopping and are building quite the stockpile.

Summer Sizzle – We are going to try and keep some sizzle and fun in our summer even though we are moving to a new town. Last week the girls attended VBS at a local church.  Our parish cancelled VBS this year, so we piggybacked on someone else’s.

C-Sunshine is also attending a Keeper’s club bi-weekly and I am doing a Bible Study with some other homeschool mom’s. The kids swim and the mom’s meet. Works out nicely. This week I plan to check into some of the local drama camps and the reading program at the library. Maybe a sewing class or two?

Praying for - a dear friend Kristin who’s father just past away. Her family is in Turkey on a missionary trip. Wishing them safe travel and God’s sweet embrace during this difficult time.

Thinking of – Plans for the new house and what new (or new to us) furniture that we will need. Also thinking of all the things that need to be done before the closing, packing and moving. Dreaming of a day when I can feel settled again. How I long to drink a hot cup of tea on a cold afternoon in the warmth of my house while my girls hum away doing a craft together………..

A Picture thought  I am sharing……..

Reflection of a Learning Week at the Beach

In the learning room................
We are slowing winding down.  Still have a few weeks left.  Just concentrating on the 3 R's.

A Faithful Household...... We will begin going to church in our new hometown soon.  My kiddos are a bit disappointed there is no VBS at our parish this year.  Hoping to find another VBS to attend.  We will really miss our church and Father Austin.

Around the house.......
We have a contract!  Finally.  We signed a contract on a house that was on our original House Hunting post. The one with no trees.  I guess we will be investing in some big trees to plant.  I love trees!  We are all happy to atleast have a plan of where we are going.  No one really enjoyed the house hunt around here.

In the Kitchen.....
I need to get back in there.  We have been traveling so much and eating out.  I have gained 4 pounds over the last week!  Stress eating and eating out.  Need to get back to the grindstone.  I want to make menu's for the next few weeks and start to use up some of the food in the freezer.  Moving in July, I am not sure what will last and for how long.

Out and about.......
We tagged along with Dad on a business trip to Pensacola Beach, Florida.  The beaches there are beautiful.  We spent more time at the pool than the beach.  We had to pay five dollars an hour for chairs and an umbrella and you know what?  I never had to pay more than five dollars!  The girls always wanted to head back to the hotel pool, which is right on the beach.

Thinking about....and praying for....
I am thinking about our upcoming move.  I am praying for a smooth closing and an even smoother transition to our new home.  I pray for some stressfree days for my hubby.  I am updating our Relocation Control Journal and making a ton of list.
