A January Daybook Post

Outside my window......  The rain is pouring down, down, down.  The skies are a dark grey and while the temperatures are still mild at 54 degrees, it is still a wintry day here in Georgia.  There are strong storms headed our way with tornado potential, so we plan to stay in all day.  Yeah!  I guess I should have stayed in the PJ's.

In the Learning Room......  We have been in a good rhythm with our schooling lately.  Still moving forward with Story of the World Two and Zoology 3 - Land Animals.  I am so glad that we are studying history again and not just geography.  So are the girls.  I am trying to muster up some excitement for lessons but it is slow coming.  I don't know if it is the winter blues or what, but some days, everyone just wants to get the reading finished and be done with it.  Forget those fun projects and coloring sheets!   However, they are an important part of learning.  Especially for my hands on K-Doodle.  So I plan to improve greatly here.

Around the house.......  I am just trying to maintain order.  Trying to keep the laundry monster tamed.  We are doing some painting here and there that we didn't get around to when we first moved in over the summer.  That just might be a Pin-It post soon!

Around the waist.......  Too much flab!  I will begin posting about weight loss soon.  I will be linking up with a Weightloss Wednesday.  I have sixty pounds to lose!

Faithful Family......  After reading Sarah's post about P.A.C.E., I ordered a copy to use instead of Faith and Life.  We have used Faith and Life for years, but it has gotten rather...dry...and well.. b.o.r.i.n.g.  I just received my copy in the mail and like what I have read so far.  Look forward to beginning next week after I have made a few plans with it.  Thanks Sarah!  In addition, I am working on liturgical plans for February through Lent.  Hope to post some of those soon.

Praying for.....  My dear friend Patty who is carrying her little bundle of Joy.  She is scheduled to deliver this bundle on the 26th.  Praying for a peaceful, painless delivery and a healthy baby.

Plans for the week....
Rain....American Heritage Girls, Religion classes, Children's Choir practice, going to an opera of Hansel and Gretal and lunch with some homeschool friends, a planning meeting for a middle school group science class next year and our homeschool fine arts co-op classes on Friday.  Busy week ahead.

We are so blessed here.  And so grateful to God for all those blessings.

Have a wonderful week.

An All Hallows Eve Daybook Post

Happy Hallow's Eve!

Outside My Window – It's a bit gloomy and cloudy today.  Along with a chill in the air.  Setting the stage for an evening of spooky excitement to see what arrives at our doorstep with each trick-or-treater.

In the Learning Room – Today we are doing an abbreviated school day in anticipation of a busy afternoon of activity.  We will be doing the 3R's and saving the good stuff for the rest of the week.  :)  We are getting into a nice grove.  There is still a large amount of organization that needs to happen in the learning room.  Unfortunately we don't have enough table space or desk to get the job done.  Furniture hunting we will go.

In the Kitchen – We are cooking up a big pot of chilli and corn bread and have invited the neighbors over to warm up with a bowl during the hours of little goblin haunting in the neighborhood.  Because we live in a culdesac, we are hoping to get some neighborly conversation going.  We would love to get to know the people growing families around us.

Plans for the week– Today we will head out to a Trunk-or-Treat with our homeschool group.  We will then rush home to get the full decoration's out and dinner plans complete.  We do plan to walk the neighborhood with great hopes of finding sugar bliss!  I will try REALLY hard to stay OUT of the girls candy bags.  Lord, give me strength! Tomorrow is morning Mass and a celebration of All Saints Day.

Praying for - Those mommie's growing babies in their tums,  Patty over at ReasonsForChocolate  and Sarah over at AmongstLovelyThings.

Thinking of – my husband and four daughters.  Of their needs and wants.  Praying that I can become the wife and mother that God intended me to be. (and like it.  Big grin:)

A Picture thought  I am sharing……..

Doesn't K-Doodle make the cutest paper doll?

A Late August Daybook

Outside My Window – The sun is still bright and HOT.  It has been miserable here with the high 90's and low 100's all week.  Can't wait until September.  All I see out of the schoolroom window is trees.  Lovely trees.  I will miss this window when we move.  We often see the deer munching away up on the bank outside.

In the Learning Room – Things are moving along quite nicely.  We are in our third week of schooling, though it will be a short one.  (See Below)  Our plans for the year are working and I have been pleasantly surprised with how much K-Doodle can do independently.  We are enjoying some Living Book reading together.  I don't really like Faith and Life 3rd grade.  I don't think that I did with Chloe either.  WAY too much writing in the workbook.  I think we are just going to read the text and be done with it.  I would love any ideas you have on religion for 3rd grade.

Operation Relocation – We are all set to close on the house on Thursday at 11 a.m.  Then the owners have 3 days to vacate (not sure why).  At 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, it is all ours!!  Lots of painting and cleaning will be going on during the week, while the movers are at our current house packing and loading.  Then on Thursday, Sept. 1st, we should FINALLY be in our new house!  All prayers would be appreciated.  I have been calling on God's Grace daily during the past month.  Praying for a peaceful transition.  He has been faithful.

In the Kitchen – Trying to eat up what we have so that we don't have to move it with us or throw it away.  Going back to Organic.  Will post more about why at another time.  I can't wait to get back to menu planning and being on a schedule.  This having to eat up what I have has thrown me for a loop.

Summer Sizzle – Summer is quickly coming to a close.  The house we are buying has a pool.  We are hoping to eek out a day or two of fun in the pool before it gets too fallish around here.  Falling leaves, etc...  With the high 90's lately, I am not really worried about it.  I think we will be having some splashing days ahead.

Praying for - Patty over at ReasonsForChocolate who is still a little queasy after finding out that they have been blessed with a little bun in the oven!  She must have drank from the same preggo water as Sarah over at AmongstLovelyThings.  I will be praying for these dear ladies as they carry those bundles of joy.  Oh, I wish that season was not over for me.  WAIT!  Diapers, crying, all nighters.......I guess I will be satisfied with being a Nonnie in the years to come.  My "baby" is now eight years old!

Thinking of – To much to list here.  Trying not to think to much.  Over thinking is not good for you and keeps me up at night.  Every night.  I can't wait to be settled.  Did I say that already?

A Picture thought  I am sharing……..
Hopefully this will be our new home in a few days.  Come and sip Sweet Tea on the porch with me!

A June Daybook Post

Outside My Window – The sun is shining bright and it is very hot and humid here in Georgia. Days like this, I don’t even like to go out to get the mail. Days like this, I often wondered why in the world we moved back here.

In the Learning Room – I have declared an official break other than math. Yes, we are still puddling along in math this year. I don’t plan to start back until mid August after the family relocation. I am, however, planning our school year for next year and making book list and buying what I can, when I can. Still undecided about math for K-Doodle. But that is another post.

Operation Relocation – We have found the house, signed the contract and had the home inspection. All is good for now. The home appraisal has been ordered. We are now in a holding pattern as far as the actual closing.  Around the house, we are clearing out and decluttering. We have been pulling things out for a garage sale this weekend. We might be sorry, but we are planning one for Saturday morning bright and early. The fact that the girls get to keep what they make off their own goodies has proved to be good incentive to let go of a few things.

In the Kitchen – Keeping it simple. We are also trying to use up what we have so that we don’t have to move so many frozen items. Our stockpile is growing however. C-Sunshine and I have been doing some coupon shopping and are building quite the stockpile.

Summer Sizzle – We are going to try and keep some sizzle and fun in our summer even though we are moving to a new town. Last week the girls attended VBS at a local church.  Our parish cancelled VBS this year, so we piggybacked on someone else’s.
K-Doodle (with the pink shorts) getting a high-five from her "Tour Guide" at VBS

C-Sunshine (in the middle with white shades) performing at parent's night.

C-Sunshine is also attending a Keeper’s club bi-weekly and I am doing a Bible Study with some other homeschool mom’s. The kids swim and the mom’s meet. Works out nicely. This week I plan to check into some of the local drama camps and the reading program at the library. Maybe a sewing class or two?

Praying for - a dear friend Kristin who’s father just past away. Her family is in Turkey on a missionary trip. Wishing them safe travel and God’s sweet embrace during this difficult time.

Thinking of – Plans for the new house and what new (or new to us) furniture that we will need. Also thinking of all the things that need to be done before the closing, packing and moving. Dreaming of a day when I can feel settled again. How I long to drink a hot cup of tea on a cold afternoon in the warmth of my house while my girls hum away doing a craft together………..

 Have a great week.....

A January Daybook Post

Outside my window...
It's very dark.  There is no sun yet.  I can see nothing.
thinking...
that I would like to go back to bed and snuggle under the covers for another hour or so.  Also thinking about how cold it is going to be when I get out of the shower.  I don't like that.  :)I am thankful for...
the opportunity to be a homeschool Mom.  I have been reflecting lately, amongst all the complaining about how busy I am, on just how lucky I am to be able to homeschool my two lovely's.  There was a time when there is no way I could have done this nor would I have wanted to.  What a rewarding, blessed time in my life.  I might have missed it if I had not taken to time to listen to His calling for me.
From the learning room...
I confess.  We have not been in there yet this week.  We did a lot of running around yesterday (doctors, vet)  and have co-op today, so it will be tomorrow before we jump back in.  The learning room is full of the ordinary except that I just received a box from Amazon that contains our new recorders!  Music class to begin at home tomorrow.
I am wearing... Pj's
I am creating...
Menu plans.  I have to get back to having a menu plan for the week.  The unknown is killing me and also making meal time quite chaotic.  If I have no plan, then I don't take anything out of the freezer.  If I don't take something out of the freezer, then I have nothing to cook.  If I have nothing to cook.....you get the picture.
I am going...
to start working on family scrapbooks this weekend.  I am going to make it a priority to document our family life for my children.  Something to remember their childhood and hopefully us, the parents.  :)
I am reading...
lots of crafting blogs
I am hoping...
for some planning time this week.  I would also like to make time to begin weight watchers and lose some of this excess baggage.
I am hearing...
the tick-tock of the clock in the living room.  There is utter silence except for the tick-tock and the clicking of my laptop.  Peace.
Around the house...
the routines.  Sticking with the routines of maintaining the household.  Also going to try and go through some of the hundreds of books we have.  I have run out of shelf space.  We need to fling some of those reads.
One of my favorite things...
my timer.  A few years ago, I bought the flylady timer.  I started using it again and it has showed me just how much you can get done in 15 minutes.  And that you can do anything for 15 minutes.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
home learning, homeschool co-op, American Heritage Girls, Knights of Columbus family dinner, CCD Class, Art Class, The Body Detective homeschool field trip and hopefully some scrapbooking time.  :)

An Early December Daybook Post

Outside my window...
A cooler, very sunny day outside. That sun is deceiving. It was only 21 degrees this morning.
thinking...
about Advent and Christmas. How that this year, I am totally unprepared and not stressing about it. I am busy enjoying the family and doing things together. I am sure the panic will set in, but I am hoping to retain the peace of knowing that all the hub-bub is NOT what Christmas is. Celebrating the birth of Christ is. And he doesn't care about all that other stuff.
I am thankful for...
that C-Sunshine is feeling better today after battling the flu for the past four days, running a 104.7 temp at one point!  All our plans for the week were put on hold.  No busyness.  I have had time to do laundry, read to K-Doodle, make list for future Christmas shopping.  A chance to stop and breathe.  In between caring for the stomach distress that came along with the flu bug.  Yuck.
From the learning room...
Just K-Doodle and Mom in there this week.  We are working with phonics, doing some First Communion notebook work and math.  Oh, and lots of cozy reading and hot chocolate.

I am wearing...PJ's
I am creating...
gifts for the girls for Christmas..  Can't mention here.  They read this blog.
I am going...
to get to go shopping tonight.  Pat is going to stay with the girls and I am going to buy some crafting supplies to make gifts using this idea from Patty over at Reasons for Chocolate.  I am going to make these for several family members and CCD teachers.
I am reading...
recipes
I am hoping...
that no one else gets sick.  My hubby has a bad cold, C-Sunshine has the flu/stomach bug, whatever it is.  K-Doodle and I have washed our hands so much they are cracking.  :)  Today I am boiling the sheets and Lysoling everything, including C-Sunshine and my hubby.  (not really, but I have thought about it.)
I am hearing...
a Christmas movie the girls are watching on Netflix,
Around the house...
Tidying and dragging out more decorations for the Advent season and Christmas.  The tree is up, but that is about it.  I am too sleepy.  I need more coffee.
One of my favorite things...
a day at home with no plans.  My girls like this too.  Hmmmm......what does that tell me.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
If we are well, homeschool choir practice and then performance.  We missed the Little House Christmas play today and tea with friends.  I am not really sad about that.  Why is that.  I plan to "dig in".  Get the fixin's for the season, sip tea, wrap presents, listen to Christmas music, go to Mass and work on lesson plans for next week.

A Mid November Daybook post

Outside my window...
A cooler, damper morning with the sun trying to peek out from below the hill.
thinking...
about our busy week ahead and Thanksgiving plans. Also thinking about our daughter eldest daughter Amber who is going to have to endure a full body scan just to get here next week for Thanksgiving. Bummer for a 23 year old young lady.
I am thankful for...
my calendar and planner and now iPad. I truly don't know how I would survive without my "brain on paper". It is amazing how much information I can no longer store in this brain of mine. I use to remember everything! Now I have to repeat someone's name 3 times out loud to remember it. People must think I am crazy when they hear me do that. :)
From the learning room...
It is finally clean! After becoming the main play area for a bit, I have "unearthed" the floor and tidied up where some real learning can take place. That makes me smile.
I am wearing...night shirt. A REALLY old one that I should probably throw out, but it brings me comfort.
I am creating...
a peaceful home environment. Finding everything a place and a place for everything. And creating a lot of bags to take to the Goodwill in the process. (I am still doing this - this was a cut and past from August!)
I am going...
to spend the weekend making all my online purchases for Christmas.
I am reading...
blogs....
I am hoping...
for enough time with extended family this Thanksgiving. We miss seeing our cousins and grandparents and are really looking forward to seeing everyone.
I am hearing...
Maroon 5 blaring in my ears. SSSHHHHH I just love them! I have my earbuds in and the girls are still sleeping. I really want to get up and dance, but instead I am typing words here.
Around the house...
this week I am concentrating on the master bedroom and K-Doodle's room. I have been following Flylady.net 's routines and I must say it is much easier to keep up with the house these days. The girls also have been pitching in a lot more now that I am re-establishing habit training and daily routines for them to follow.
One of my favorite things...
datenight. We rarely get a night out alone. We will tomorrow night. A business dinner, but still...the drive there and home we will be alone......
A few plans for the rest of the week:
home learning, homeschool choir, CCD, horsemanship class, Art class, Jesse Tree ornament exchange, Fernbank Museum, Middle School Barn dance and K-Doodle has an American Girl birthday party to go to. Whew....and it's already Wednesday!
Have a great week!

An August Daybook Post

Outside my window...
A hot and sticky afternoon in Georgia. No breeze. Too hot for the bugs to even fly around.
thinking...
about our upcoming beach vacation and trip to Walt Disney for the first time. Exciting things to plan. All while trying to make it a "free" vacation. Just got the hotel in Orlando for "free" from my hubby's Marriott Rewards points. Yippee for that!
I am thankful for...
air conditioning and my old van. It's a 2004 and keeps on ticking. It doesn't look bad at all. My husband made it all clean inside (birthday present) and it gets me to where I need to go. I am so thankful I have a van that moves.
From the learning room...
It has been busy exploring American History and Swimming Creatures this week. The plans are coming together nicely. I am trying to put our Liturgical Plans for this week down on paper and will try to post soon. There is room for a little organization. My file crate is working great keeping up with those weekly printouts, experiments, coloring sheets, ideas..... I did label them Week 1-36 this year instead of dating them. This helps when we take an unexpected week off. No need to relabel them. I have also made a Home Learning Notebook with dividers to keep up with reading list, lesson plans, activity information, home school group info., etc... Everything in one place and NOT with the household stuff. Working much better than last year. I just need to make it pretty. Right now it is plain Jane white. You know I don't like that!
From the kitchen...
C-Sunshine made a batch of blueberry muffins this morning. I am just getting the three squares out these days. Need to work on Menu plans and try and bake and freeze for those busier days that are not far ahead. Thinking of baking....blueberry and blackberry muffins, oatmeal bake and some cookies to freeze and stow away.
I am wearing...blue jean capri's and a light blue top. Very plain. No makeup and it's almost 7:30 p.m., so it ain't gonna happen today. Sorry hubby.
I am creating...
a peaceful home environment. Finding everything a place and a place for everything. And creating a lot of bags to take to the Goodwill in the process.
I am going...
not too many places this week. Hoping to spend most days right here.......
I am reading...
Magnificat, daily. Also reading the Little Flower's Leader Guide. I am starting a new Little Flower Club at our parish in October. So looking forward to that!
I am hoping...
that my new iPad arrives soon. A birthday gift from my Dad. Thanks Dad, what a wonderful surprise. Now, to keep it away from the rest of the family!
I am hearing...
My girls giggling upstairs playing Nancy Drew. They just LOVE being detectives!
Around the house...
that garage is almost together. This week I hope to finish up. My dear hubby moved in a HUGE set of lockers. You know, the big huge school type lockers. Well, I have decided that C-Sunshine and K-Doodle need to decorate one and put there "go bags" in there for co-op, art class, etc... They are excited about that. I will try and post some pictures.
One of my favorite things...
the internet. I love reading blogs and keeping up with family and friends. I know there is bad with the good. But for our family, it's all good. I just wish society didn't have to deal with the bad. You know what I am talking about.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
home learning, church, planning, playing. Sunday we have a church breakfast and after our homeschool group is having a family picnic. Next week my oldest comes for a visit. Life is good!

Have a great week!

A Final June Daybook

Outside my window...
A somewhat cooler day today. Suppose to get storms later, thank goodness! A welcome break from the heat.
thinking...
about C-Sunshine's upcoming birthday. She would like to have a few friends over for a Movie Star birthday party. Complete with the red carpet, fashion/talent show, movie made right here on set and an awards ceremony. C-Sunshine has done all the plans so far and has made her checklist. (Yes, she is a list maker too. Apple doesn't fall far. :)
I am thankful for...
My husband and his ability to plant trees and plants in this rock hard Georgia Clay and make them grow. I love you hon....
From the learning room...

not much going on up there except summer play. It is waiting for a good straightening and replenishment of supplies.....crayons, markers, paints, colored pencils, paper, tissue paper and lots of crafting. I am trying to buy better quality supplies this year, so I have been utilizing my Michael's and Hobby Lobby coupons each week.
From the kitchen...
still lots of blackberries. We have eaten all the muffins already so I am going to bake up a big batch probably tomorrow. Canned blackberry preserves and blanched and froze green beans from a friend. Going to make something scrumptious to take to my parents at the lake for the 4th with family.
I am wearing...PJ's....shhhhhh
I am creating...
a Mom place and it is turning out nicely. I will save the rest for an upcoming post next week. It's an exciting space for me..
I am going...
to a Mom's Bible Study today with some other homeschool Mom's. We pray, the kids swim. It's a great combination.
I am reading...
Still re-reading A Mother's Rule of Life. I am also reading Simplicity Parenting.
I am hoping...
for peace this weekend and that our dog doesn't pee on my mom's floors.
I am hearing...
PBS Kids on TV. K-Doodle is not feeling too well today. But not bad enough to miss swimming. :)
Around the house...
thinks are looking up. Except the garage! It is still full of boxes from our move one year ago. My goal when the heat breaks, is to get out there and unpack or declutter, get rid of, one box per day until they are gone! I will persevere. I WILL get my van in there this winter!
One of my favorite things...
Netflix. We don't really watch TV (except PBS). So, we have enjoyed lots of family movies played on the Wii and seen on the TV through Netflix this summer. They really do have a lot of good quality films if you look for them.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Keepers Club meeting, Bible Study, Fourth of July with Family at the lake.
A Picture Thought I am sharing....
Trying to get a one year old dog to pose for a picture with a party hat is not an easy task. :)
Have a great week!

A June Daybook Post

Outside my window...
Another incredibly sunny and hot, sweltering humid day here in Georgia.....
thinking...
about summer plans and already my thoughts are towards school plans for next year.
I am thankful for...
All of my daughters. Each one brings something different into my life. They are joyful, playful, funny, smart and quite entertaining. And I am not just talking about the little girls here. Daughters turn into your bestest friends. I like that....
From the learning room...

do we have to talk about that? The "Learning Room" has been transformed into a mini version of our VBS from last week. The girls have put up props everywhere and are having fun playing store, town, ship, and whatever else their little brains are coming up with. So, for now the Learning Room is all about the summer fun and play.
From the kitchen...
Will be baking this week. Just pick about 8 cups of blackberries and have plans for some blackberry muffins and cobbler. Need to bake and freeze.
I am wearing...clue jean carpi's and a white tee
I am creating...
summer fun "plans". Not really plans, just jotting down ideas that we might want to look into, places to investigate, etc. No agenda here.......no REALLY.
I am going...
to be late for swim lessons if I don't turn this computer off.
I am reading...
Still re-reading A Mother's Rule of Life. I am also reading Simplicity Parenting.
I am hoping...
to create some alone time with my hubby. I haven't been in "wife" mode much lately. I need to stop thinking like a teacher and more like a loving, dotting wife. (Did I just say that?) No really, I want my hubby to know that I love him and he IS the world to me. Not just someone to share my kids with, but to share MY life with.
I am hearing...
my girlies playing upstaris in their bedrooms with their cousins who are here for a week. They are having so much fun.
Around the house...
I am trying to run my dining room nothingness (we don't use it for anything but a catch all room), into a peaceful, tranquil Mom room. I would like to be able to scrapbook, blog, letter write, etc... in that space. Bought a table off a friend last night for twenty bucks at my Meal Making Club. Hoping to make it into a crafting happy place.
One of my favorite things...
My card organizing that came prefilled with all kinds of cards. It has saved me a lot over that last few months!
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Swim lessons, free movie day, bible study and swim, lots of playin' with the cousins and hopefully that alone time. :)
A Picture Thought I am sharing....
I am hoping that you can see the bunny, squirrel and dove all enjoying spilled birdseed together in my parent's driveway over the weekend. I will try and crop it and repost. It was so cute to watch. Have a great week!

A Final May Daybook Post

Outside my window...
Windy and I the clouds are starting to come in and cover up the sun. Guess we are going to get some much needed rain. Hoping.....
thinking...
that I need to make a plan of things that I want to get accomplished around the house over the summer. Lots of closets that need to be thinned out and lesson planning to do.
I am thankful for...
My mother. And for my husband moving me closer to her so that I get to see her more than just twice a year. This is the first time in my adult life that I have lived only 2 hours away from her. We laughed because we see each other so much now. What a blessing that is!
From the learning room...

we are on our last two weeks. Only 8 days to go! WhooHoo! The room itself is a mess. The playing has taken over and I have books scattered about trying to decide what to keep, use or sell. You know what I am talking about.
From the kitchen...
Peace. I joined a Meal Making club. Ten ladies get together once a month and cook up ten different meals. Then you get to take ten different meals home to stash in your freezer. This was my first month and we have eaten three of the meals. Yum!!! I do NO shopping. I just show up, cook for about 5 hours with friends and go home with the Yum stuff. How sweet is that!
I am wearing...cream carpi's and a chocolate tee
I am creating...
a clean home. I am working diligently on getting the house in tip top (or almost top) shape and establishing better routines of keeping it that way.
I am going...
to slow down over the summer. We plan to have some fun!
I am reading...
Really re-reading A Mother's Rule of Life. Redoing my rule. (see previous creating post!)
I am hoping...
to save enough money to purchase new outdoor furniture for our patio. It is covered and I would love some cozy cushions.
I am hearing...
my girlies playing Barbie's in C-Sunshine's room (which she cleaned with no prompting - Go C)
Around the house...
Peace today.
One of my favorite things...
My label maker. I have been using it trying to get things organized.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Final Art Class, Well Checkup for the girlies and a whole lotta fun with Dad this weekend!
A Picture Thought I am sharing....
This bumble bee is digging serious holes in our porch post. I have never watched them before. My hubby doesn't like it. He is allergic! We are hoping they move on soon.

A Spring Daybook Post

Outside my window...
Cloudy, sleepy outside. Looks to be a warm muggy day today.
thinking...
of a few summer plans
I am thankful for...
Daughters
From the learning room...

we are finishing up our work for the year. C-Sunshine is slowing completing subjects one by one. We are filling the learning room with new things to explore next year and over the summer. There is also some organizing going on.
From the kitchen...
Hopefully there will be a lot of baking going on later today. Banana bread, raspberry muffins and oatmeal bake to name a few.....
I am wearing...Pj's....again.
I am creating...
special "Go Bags" for the little girls for our upcoming trip to Illinois. They will include special treats, games and activities to do in the van on the way up.
I am going...
to work really hard to stay on task this week. Planning is the key to happiness and peace on our upcoming trip. We also have a lot of plans with extended family over the weekend.
I am reading...
Confessions of An Organized Homemaker
I am hoping...
for safe travel
I am hearing...
my girlies arguing over who gets to hold our dog Lucy.
Around the house...
Still continuing to declutter and do some spring cleaning.
One of my favorite things...
My bread maker. We all just LOVE the smell of fresh bread!
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Religion classes, art class, soccer game, dinner with grandparents, niece's graduation and a Mother's Day Celebration with my Mom!
A Picture Thought I am sharing....
K-Doodle with my mom. Happy Mother's Day Mommy!

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY April 14, 2010
Outside my window...
It is going to be a beautiful day.  The sun is shining and the birds are singing.  I love Spring!
thinking...
of our routines and schedules.
I am thankful for...
my mother.  Today is her birthday.  Happy Birthday Mom!
From the learning room...
We are back at it after a spring break during Holy Week and the week after.  C-Sunshine is finishing up various workbooks on this and that.  We have started a morning basket after I read about it over at Jen's.  It is working out nicely and gives us time together before we branch off first thing in the morning.  We regroup after lunch for our studies together of history, geography and nature.  I am forever moving towards a full Charlotte Mason learning style.  :)
From the kitchen...
I am going to be making some spring/summer menu's.  I also want to try and plan a lot of crock-pot meals so that I don't have to heat up the house with the oven in the summer.
I am wearing...my blue floral PJ's.
I am creating...still working on a scrapbook to present to my eldest daughter at her graduation from college.  Can't say much about it because she reads my blog.
I am going...
to see some of the many great friends that I left behind when we travel to Illinois in May.  Yes, excited here
.I am reading...
Creative Counterpart by Linda Dillow, re-reading Real Learning by Elizabeth Foss.
 I am hoping...
to finalize plans for the upcoming homeschool conference (wish list)
I am hearing...
the sweet songs from the birdies outside
 Around the house...
Still continuing to declutter and do some spring cleaning.
 One of my favorite things...
our DVR.  The only way to watch any kind of programming as a family.  We don't watch much, but it is so nice to be able to skip all the commercials!  We would not be able to ever watch any thing if we didn't have it. (not that that would be such a bad thing)
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Religion classes, art class, soccer game, Arbor Day celebration, birthday celebration with Nanny

Simple Woman's Daybook.

Day Book March 16th

FOR TODAY March 16, 2010
Outside my window...
Another gloomy "end of winter" day. Spring wants to come out to play, but old grumpy winter won't let her yet.
thinking...
of all that I need to do before we end out to our homeschool co-op this morning.
I am thankful for...
for home schooling mom's who keep blogs! I have found some fantastic blogs this past week which I have been exploring full of great ideas and fun activities. I am so appreciative for those mom's taking the time to share.
From the learning room...
we took a break yesterday because big sis is home from college this week. We will probably have a modified week this week.
From the kitchen...
It's still closed.......: ) I did bake yesterday, but am still lacking the desire the meal plan. I need some inspiration, so if you know of any great meal planning blogs, please share!
I
am wearing...my blue floral PJ's. (again :)
I am creating...
homeschool plans and book list to take with me to the upcoming homeschool conventions. I want to try and be a bit more organized this year. Last year was my first one in my six years of homeschooling and I was like a kid in a candy store! And a bit overwhelmed.
I am going...
totry and revamp my exercise schedule and really start working on a wellness plan.
I am reading...
Recipe books, trying to find inspiration.
I am hoping...
to spend some quality time with my oldest home from college. Making memories with my soon to be college graduate.
I am hearing...
the tick-tock of the living room clock. Everyone else is still fast asleep....ah, peace.
Around the house...
trying to find a place for everything and put everything in it's place.
One of my favorite things...
My new bird feeder. A Christmas gift from my girls. Just wish the birds would find it.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
homeschool co-op, soccer practice, art class, a field trip to the Coca Cola Museum (possibly) or a trip to the mall with big sis, big consignment sale this weekend
Don't forget to get your own Simple Woman's Daybook.
